Speculation surrounding Curtis Jones’ future at Liverpool has been growing rapidly, but a respected voice close to the club has now stepped in to calm the noise.

The 25-year-old midfielder, a product of Liverpool’s academy, has been part of the senior setup since making his debut in 2018. Over the years, Jones has quietly built an impressive résumé, featuring more than 200 times for the Reds across all competitions and contributing important goals from midfield.

During his time at Anfield, Jones has collected a stack of major honours, including Premier League titles, domestic cups, and global trophies—cementing his place as a trusted squad member during one of the club’s most successful eras.

Late on Friday, however, eyebrows were raised after reports suggested the England international could be on the move before the January transfer window shuts. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claimed that Inter Milan were in discussions with Liverpool over a potential loan deal that could include a future purchase option.

According to the report, Inter’s interest was linked to uncertainty around Davide Frattesi’s future, with Nottingham Forest monitoring the Italian midfielder. Jones was allegedly being considered as a possible replacement should Frattesi depart.

But those claims were quickly played down. Liverpool correspondent James Pearce has since dismissed the rumours entirely, describing suggestions of an imminent exit as inaccurate and misleading.

Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot remained characteristically cautious when questioned about late transfer activity ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash with Newcastle United. While not ruling anything out, Slot made it clear that any movement would only happen if the right opportunity presented itself behind the scenes.

Liverpool’s recent injury problems at right-back—following setbacks to Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley—have forced several midfielders, including Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, to fill in defensively.
