Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a switch for Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté to Serie A this winter is extremely unlikely, despite recent links with Inter Milan.
According to Romano, Italian clubs simply won’t be able to secure Konaté’s signature in January — largely due to financial constraints and Liverpool’s firm stance. The French defender, whose contract at Anfield expires next summer, is reportedly in ongoing talks over a new deal with Liverpool, with terms that Serie A teams can’t match.
Inter Milan had been mentioned as a potential suitor, especially as they look to bolster their defence with new signings. But with Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi expected to depart San Siro, the Nerazzurri are now exploring alternatives like Tarik Muharemovic, Marc Guéhi and Joel Ordóñez, rather than betting on Konaté.
In short — no January move to Italy for Konaté. Any future developments will likely hinge on contract renewal progress at Liverpool or his situation when his deal expires next summer.
