In a dramatic turn of events, Xabi Alonso has reportedly told Real Madrid to halt a planned signing—after having a change of heart regarding one of his own rising stars. 😲

The Spanish giants have already made significant moves this summer, bringing in Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth and Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool. They’ve also secured teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono, who will arrive from River Plate upon turning 18. 👏

But now, Real’s pursuit of another forward has been unexpectedly paused…

According to AS, young striker Gonzalo Garcia has stunned everyone with his performances at the Club World Cup, convincing Alonso that he may already have the perfect solution in-house. The 21-year-old has impressed by leading the line in Real’s U.S. tour, including scoring in their 1-1 draw against Al Hilal. 🌟

His standout form has reportedly led Alonso to drop Real’s interest in Croatian striker Ante Budimir, who was being considered as a backup in the mold of Joselu. Budimir, coming off a prolific 24-goal season with Osasuna, had been viewed as a cost-effective option, with a £7 million release clause.

But following Garcia’s rapid emergence, the Madrid hierarchy is no longer pursuing that deal. ❌

Budimir, when asked about links to Real during international duty, said:
“I respect Osasuna deeply. I’m happy where I am. If there’s interest, others can handle it—I’m focused on rest after a long season.”

🔁 Could this be the end of Real’s striker search? Or will another twist emerge before the window closes?
