Liverpool could be bracing for another major defensive exit as Ibrahima Konaté’s contract situation grows increasingly uncertain. The French centre-back, whose deal at Anfield is running down, has now attracted serious interest from European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Reports from Germany suggest that Bayern have already made contact with Konaté’s representatives — signaling their intent to bring him back to the Bundesliga, where he first rose to prominence with RB Leipzig. The German giants are expected to make a stronger push if fellow defender Dayot Upamecano decides to leave the club at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid — fresh from signing Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer last summer — are also monitoring the situation closely. With stars like Eder Militão, David Alaba, and Antonio Rüdiger already in their ranks, Los Blancos see Konaté as another long-term option to bolster their backline.
Konaté, who joined Liverpool for around £36 million and has made over 140 appearances, has faced mixed form this season — sparking debate among fans about his future focus. Still, manager Arne Slot has publicly defended the Frenchman, insisting the team’s struggles are collective, not individual.
