Liverpool’s turbulent run continued on Saturday as they twice let a lead slip in a dramatic 3–3 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road. Ao Tanaka’s stoppage-time equaliser deepened the pressure on Arne Slot, who is already facing questions about results and dressing-room harmony.
The match also marked Salah’s third consecutive game starting on the bench — a decision that pushed him to the brink. Speaking in the mixed zone after the draw, the forward expressed his frustration openly, admitting he has “no relationship” with Slot while accusing the club of leaving him exposed.
“I’ve been on the bench for 90 minutes again — the third time now,” he said. “It’s never happened in my career. I’m really disappointed. I’ve given everything for this club over the years, especially last season. To be treated like this… it feels like the club has thrown me under the bus. It’s clear someone wants all the blame to fall on me.”
His comments have reignited speculation about a possible January exit.
Three Teams Eyeing a Move
According to The Athletic, three potential destinations have emerged:
Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia)
San Diego FC (MLS)
Chicago Fire (MLS)
The report notes that Chicago Fire previously attempted to sign Salah before he renewed his Liverpool contract earlier this year, making them a likely contender to try again. Al Hilal, meanwhile, are considered financially capable of meeting any fee Liverpool might demand.
Liverpool’s Position on Arne Slot
Despite the public fallout and worsening results, Liverpool are said to have no intention of dismissing Arne Slot over player unrest. Sources close to the club insist that firing a manager because a high-profile player is unhappy is not something the owners would even consider.
The Athletic stresses that Slot still retains the full backing of FSG, regardless of the noise surrounding Salah’s situation.
Slot is expected to address the media on Monday night ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan at the San Siro — and attention will be fixed on whether Salah is included in the travelling squad.
