Isak edging closer while Ekitike sits out
The £125 million summer signing, who arrived from Newcastle, continues to sharpen up at the AXA Training Centre. While still regaining full match sharpness, the Swedish forward was seen participating fully in sessions, a positive sign as Arne Slot weighs up his options in attack.
His involvement comes at a crucial moment, with Hugo Ekitike suspended after his overzealous celebration in the Carabao Cup against Southampton saw him pick up a second yellow card. The Frenchman has since apologised publicly, but his absence leaves Liverpool short in forward areas.
In his place, Slot may look to Isak or Federico Chiesa. The Italian has already been making waves, assisting both goals in the midweek cup tie and staking a claim for more responsibility in the weeks ahead.
