Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid are preparing another ambitious raid on the Premier League — and two top names from Liverpool and Chelsea are firmly on their radar.
According to close sources, Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández have both been shortlisted by Xabi Alonso, who is determined to reinforce his midfield options after missing out on Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi earlier this year.
But the Argentine pair aren’t the only ones catching Madrid’s attention. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and AZ Alkmaar prodigy Kees Smit are also being closely monitored, with scouts keeping tabs on their rapid development.
A senior insider reportedly revealed:
> “Real Madrid have genuine interest in Alexis Mac Allister. Enzo Fernández, Adam Wharton, and Kees Smit are all part of the club’s long-term scouting focus.”
However, bringing in such talent won’t be simple. Both Liverpool and Chelsea view their midfielders as essential to their future projects, meaning any potential deal would likely require a massive transfer fee.
Interestingly, Moises Caicedo is also being evaluated — but in a different tactical context. The Ecuadorian’s physical style and defensive range could make him an alternative to Aurélien Tchouaméni, should Real opt for a change in that position.
With Alonso eager to reshape Madrid’s engine room, fans may soon witness a major midfield evolution at the Bernabéu. Among the list, Wharton appears to be the most attainable target, given Crystal Palace’s history of eventually cashing in on their brightest stars — much like they did with Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze in recent summers.
