Liverpool’s preseason may have featured big-name arrivals, but one teenager is stealing the spotlight. At just 16, Rio Ngumoha has dazzled fans and teammates alike with his fearless dribbling and breathtaking solo goals — performances that have already earned him a new nickname.

Fresh summer signing Jeremie Frimpong couldn’t hide his admiration, branding the youngster “Mr. 1 v 1” after watching him tear through defenders in style.

Ngumoha, who left Chelsea’s academy to join Liverpool last summer, made history last season as the youngest ever starter in a competitive match for the Reds — a memorable FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley. Since then, he’s been making waves in the Premier League 2, and this preseason has only boosted his case for first-team action.

In recent friendlies, the winger has been electric:

Goal & assist vs Athletic Bilbao at Anfield, completing almost every pass and dribble.

Solo strike against Yokohama in Japan.

Assist & dazzling runs against AC Milan.

With Luis Díaz now gone, the left-wing slot could open up for Ngumoha, though Liverpool are also eyeing big-money options like PSG’s Bradley Barcola and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Manager Arne Slot has praised the youngster’s impact but urged patience:

> “He’s showing real promise, but Premier League football — with the demands of playing every few days — is another challenge. If he keeps performing like this, these minutes won’t be his last.”

For now, the hype train is building steam… and “Mr. 1 v 1” might just be Liverpool’s next breakout star. 🚀🔴
