According to reporter Ben Jacobs, the club hierarchy is still weighing up whether the winger will make the trip to Italy for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan. Some insiders hinted he might be left out after publicly admitting his relationship with Arne Slot has strained in recent weeks.
However, any talk of a complete breakdown appears premature — Salah did take part in training at the AXA Training Centre, even sharing a few smiles during the open session broadcast on the club’s YouTube channel.
But while the Egyptian was present, two notable names were not. Liverpool World reported that Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa were nowhere to be seen during the open session, raising questions about their availability for the San Siro tie. Both players have played limited minutes this season, but losing them would still reduce Slot’s options.
Chiesa in particular has provided big moments off the bench — from his late strike against Bournemouth on opening day to his crucial defensive intervention against Sunderland last week.
As for Salah, his appearance in training hints at a possible short-term peace, despite Wayne Rooney arguing otherwise. Whether that extends into a place in the travelling squad will become clear once Liverpool confirm their group later today.
