Midtjylland’s rising defender Ousmane Diao has opened up about his admiration for Liverpool’s French striker Hugo Ekitike, admitting that it would be a dream come true to one day share the pitch with him.

The 21-year-old centre-back faced Ekitike last season and confessed that the experience left a lasting impression. Speaking to Footmercato, Diao described the Liverpool star as “incredible,” praising his pace, technique, and strength.

> “Last year, against Frankfurt, there were a lot of great players — Marmoush, Ekitike, and others,” Diao recalled. “But Ekitike stood out. His movement was amazing. I’d really love to play with him one day. The dream is to go to England, play for one of the biggest clubs, and compete in the Champions League — God willing.”

Diao, who has previously been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, continues to attract attention from several top European clubs thanks to his strong performances for Midtjylland.

With Liverpool reportedly seeking reinforcements in defence — especially with Ibrahima Konaté nearing the end of his contract and Joe Gomez’s recurring injury issues — the young defender’s comments could spark further interest from Anfield.

Still just 21, Diao’s mix of composure, strength, and ambition might make him a valuable future addition to Liverpool’s back line. If he maintains his impressive form, a Premier League move might not be far away. 👀🔥
