Former England striker Matt Le Tissier believes it is only a matter of time before Alexander Isak swaps black and white for red, insisting the Newcastle forward will be a Liverpool player by September 1st.
The Swedish international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield all summer, particularly following Darwin Núñez’s high-profile exit to Al-Hilal. With the Reds in need of another proven goalscorer, Isak has emerged as the club’s top target — though Newcastle’s £150m price tag has proven to be a major obstacle.
Le Tissier: “Players usually get their way”
Speaking exclusively, Le Tissier claimed Newcastle may be powerless to prevent the transfer if Isak continues to push for it.
“In situations like this, the club rarely comes out on top,” he explained. “It’s usually the player who gets what he wants. Newcastle will want a replacement lined up first, but I expect that will happen. By the start of September, I see him in a Liverpool shirt.”
Le Tissier did previously describe Isak’s decision to refuse playing as “disrespectful,” but he now feels the striker’s departure is inevitable.
