Alexis Mac Allister enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, aiding Liverpool in winning the Premier League and putting in strong displays in the Champions League. Now, the Argentine midfielder has disclosed who he thinks is the best football team worldwide at present.
Mac Allister, originally from La Pampa, was vital for Liverpool, recording the fourth-highest minutes in the squad during their title-winning season. Nevertheless, Liverpool’s Champions League journey concluded in the Round of 16.
With new coach Arne Slot succeeding Jurgen Klopp’s emotional departure, Liverpool appeared promising. Yet, they could not advance further in Europe—partially due to the exceptional performance of a player Mac Allister jokingly admitted he “wanted to kill” after their match.
Mac Allister Names His Best Team Globally

Since Liverpool will not participate in the forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup, the 26-year-old seized the chance to commend the French powerhouse.
“PSG are the best team in the world right now; they’re in incredible form,” stated Mac Allister, an important player for Argentina with 38 caps. “They’re disciplined, good on the ball, and every player works hard. In my opinion, they’re number one.”

He recounted a funny moment from the game: “There was a 50-50 ball, and I went in aggressively, but he nutmegged me and ran past. Then the game paused, and he came over and said, ‘Bro, don’t come in so fast next time.’”
Mac Allister chuckled as he told Sergio Aguero, the show’s host, “I said to him, ‘Next time I’ll get your knee.’ But the truth is, I never got close enough to do it.”
When asked if he ever thought about retaliating rashly, Mac Allister clarified: “No, that’s not necessary. In the moment, sure, I wanted to kill him—but that’s football. It’s part of the game.”
