Liverpool have not ruled themselves out of a potential move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, even as Manchester City continue discussions over a possible deal, according to respected transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Guehi, an England international, is approaching the final phase of his contract at Selhurst Park, and that situation has naturally intensified interest from several top European clubs. Manchester City are currently the most active, holding talks with Palace, but no agreement has been reached so far.
Importantly for Liverpool fans, Romano has suggested that the race is far from over.
Reds still monitoring despite City interest
Liverpool were extremely close to signing Guehi during the previous summer window before negotiations collapsed late in the process. While that setback was frustrating, it hasn’t completely ended the club’s interest.
Speaking via his online platforms, Romano explained that Liverpool are still closely following developments, even though securing the defender in the January window would be a difficult task. He also revealed that Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on the situation, adding another twist to the story.
Internally, Liverpool are said to believe a winter move would be complicated, but the fact that they previously made strong progress gives them reason to stay alert. As Romano hinted, situations like this can change quickly — especially when contract deadlines are involved.
With Palace yet to finalise any deal and multiple heavyweights circling, Guehi’s future remains uncertain. For now, Liverpool may be watching from the shadows, but their interest is very much alive.
