Reports from Spain suggest Liverpool are now in pole position to land Crystal Palace’s highly-rated defender Marc Guehi, with Real Madrid reportedly stepping away from the chase.

The England international, who has been a consistent performer for Palace, is entering the final phase of his contract — meaning he could walk away as a free agent next summer.

Liverpool, who made a serious attempt to bring him to Anfield during the last transfer window, are said to have renewed confidence in getting the deal done this time. According to AS, Guehi remains strongly linked to the Reds despite mild interest from other European sides.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have seemingly ended their pursuit of the centre-back due to his wage expectations, making a move to Spain highly unlikely.

🏁 Guehi’s Journey Towards Anfield

The 25-year-old defender came close to a Liverpool switch earlier this year before Crystal Palace blocked the move at the final moment. Now, with his contract nearing its end, the door appears open once again for a transfer to Merseyside.

German giants Bayern Munich are also believed to be monitoring the situation, but Liverpool’s long-term interest and strong defensive project could give them the upper hand.

⚽ Could Guehi Replace Konaté?

Interestingly, Real Madrid’s focus may have shifted toward Liverpool’s own Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract is also nearing expiry. Should the Frenchman decide to leave Anfield, Guehi could emerge as a natural replacement — a Premier League-proven defender who fits Liverpool’s high-pressing, ball-playing style perfectly.

While nothing has been finalized, all signs suggest Marc Guehi could finally get his Anfield dream, completing what many see as one of the smartest free transfers of the upcoming window.
