Liverpool fans may finally have something big to smile about, as fresh reports suggest the Reds have already laid the groundwork for a future move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. The England international has long been admired at Anfield, and it’s no secret that Liverpool pushed hard to bring him in during the summer. A deal was almost completed at the very last hurdle — Guehi had agreed personal terms, a £35 million fee was lined up, and medical checks were even carried out. The move only collapsed because Palace felt they couldn’t replace their captain in time.Fast forward to now, and the story has taken a very encouraging turn. Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, via Tribuna, claims there is a “gentleman’s agreement” in place between Liverpool and Guehi, hinting that a switch to Merseyside is already pencilled in for the near future.“I’ve heard talk that he has an understanding with Liverpool that he’ll join them,” Solhekol revealed.Crucially, Guehi remains Liverpool’s number one centre-back target. Nothing has changed on that front. The 25-year-old continues to shine for Palace, producing commanding performances week after week and reminding everyone why Liverpool were so desperate to land him in the first place. His numbers back it up too — averaging over five clearances and nearly three aerial wins per match in the Premier League, Guehi has been a rock at the heart of Palace’s defence. Former Red Stephen Warnock was quick to sing his praises, insisting the defender is more than ready for the big stage.“Marc Guehi is a magnificent player,” Warnock said. “You just hope he gets that move to Liverpool. He deserves to be playing Champions League football at the highest level.”While a January move can’t be fully ruled out, it’s far more likely Palace will hold onto their skipper until the end of the season, even if that means losing him for free. With European football still on the agenda, the Eagles may see Guehi as simply too important to let go midway through the campaign. From Liverpool’s point of view, Guehi looks like the perfect long-term answer at centre-back — composed, dominant, and already proven in the Premier League. Missing out on him would be a huge blow, but talk of an agreement already being in place will have Reds supporters buzzing.Getting the deal wrapped up early would also be smart business, especially with a major international tournament on the horizon that could send his value soaring and attract even more suitors. For now, Liverpool fans can dare to dream — Marc Guehi in red might just be a matter of time. 🔴✨
