Liverpool supporters have reached boiling point with Ibrahima Konate, reacting furiously after his latest comments during the international break reopened uncertainty around his future.

According to Football Insider, there is growing concern within Liverpool that the defender may already be moving closer to an agreement with another European club. Interest in him has remained strong across the continent — and the mood among fans is turning quickly.

This comes not long after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s controversial free transfer to Real Madrid, a move that caused huge outrage among supporters and later led to him being booed when he returned to Anfield in the Champions League. Many fans now fear a repeat scenario with Konate.

Konate’s Comments Ignite Backlash

The centre-back’s latest remarks have spread widely online. Speaking about the rumours surrounding him, Konate said:

“Some of the things I’m seeing… honestly, it puts me in a difficult position with the fans — and they don’t even know the whole story.”

Those words have only intensified frustration, with several Liverpool fans publicly insisting that the club should consider moving him on if he isn’t fully committed.

Many supporters have even drawn comparisons to Alexander-Arnold’s final months at the club, claiming they can already see the same pattern forming.

Some of the online reactions include:

“Has he ever once said he wants to stay?”

“He’s definitely leaving.”

“He’s not worth the wages he’s asking for.”

Arne Slot Refuses to Be Drawn Into the Drama

When asked about Konate’s situation earlier in the season, manager Arne Slot made it clear he wasn’t getting involved:

“My focus is on getting this team back to winning. Whatever contract talks may or may not be happening — we don’t discuss that here.”

But his stance has done little to reassure fans heading into the next two transfer windows.

Liverpool Preparing for Life After Konate

Sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool will accelerate their search for a new centre-back if Konate does not extend his deal soon. The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he can begin negotiating with foreign clubs from January 1st.

Real Madrid remain heavily linked and could secure him on a free transfer next summer.

Although Liverpool are still trying to keep him, his form this season — and his latest public statements — have weakened confidence that he will remain at Anfield.

The defender has hinted that the saga is close to an ending, but whether that ending favours Liverpool is very uncertain.

Guehi Back on Liverpool’s Radar

With Konate’s future unclear, Liverpool are expected to renew their push for Marc Guehi, after a previously planned move collapsed at the last moment due to Crystal Palace backing out.

Guehi, now attracting attention from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, remains the club’s preferred long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool sources reportedly admit they mishandled the original negotiation and intend to make a strong attempt to sign him in January.
