Liverpool Defender Luke Chambers Heads to Charlton on Loan

Liverpool have confirmed that young left-back Luke Chambers will spend the rest of the season on loan at Charlton Athletic. The move was announced on January 21, just hours before the Reds faced Marseille in a crucial Champions League tie.

Chambers, 21, has been struggling to secure regular first-team football at Anfield, particularly after recovering from a back injury that curtailed his loan spell at Wigan Athletic in early 2025.

This is his fourth loan away from Liverpool, following two separate stints with Wigan and a period at Kilmarnock in 2023.

The defender could make his debut for Charlton in their upcoming Championship match against Millwall. With Charlton sitting just above the relegation zone, Chambers will be hoping for valuable game time to rebuild his confidence and form.

Despite limited appearances for Liverpool’s senior side, Chambers made an impression in earlier fixtures, including a match against Toulouse in the Europa League where he earned praise for his performance.

Now at The Valley, he’ll aim to make an impact and return to Merseyside better equipped to compete for a first-team place in the future.
