The French centre-back is entering the final months of his current contract, and talks over a new deal have yet to produce an agreement. According to reliable reporter Christian Falk, Konaté is fully aware of the club’s stance: Liverpool are prepared to move him on in January if he chooses not to commit to fresh terms.

Falk revealed on CFBayernInsider that Konaté “understands Liverpool will consider a sale if he doesn’t agree to extend his contract,” adding that Bayern Munich have already registered their interest. The Bundesliga champions are keeping a close eye on the situation, though their hopes could fade quickly if the defender decides to stay on Merseyside.

Konaté is now expected to make a decision sooner rather than later, with both clubs waiting to see which direction he leans.

Despite the speculation, Liverpool remain determined to keep hold of one of their strongest performers. Konaté has established himself as a vital part of the squad and is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defenders. Losing him would be a significant setback for the Reds, who hope to convince the 25-year-old to extend his stay.

From Liverpool’s perspective, keeping the French international is crucial to maintaining their competitiveness in all major tournaments. For Konaté, he has already tasted success at Anfield, lifting trophies and challenging at the highest level — a journey he could continue if he chooses to sign a new deal.
