According to Rousing the Kop, 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha is in contention to be called up for England’s squad at the upcoming U17 World Cup in Qatar, which runs from 3–27 November.

Fans are already preparing for Mohamed Salah’s departure in December due to the Africa Cup of Nations, but Ngumoha’s possible absence a month earlier could leave Arne Slot short of attacking options.
The teenager, who arrived from Chelsea and recently signed his first professional deal with the Reds, has been one of the stories of the season. He has already made four senior appearances and scored once, impressing supporters with his fearless performances.
Should he travel with the national team, Ngumoha could miss as many as six matches — including blockbuster clashes against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City.
Slot’s Attacking Dilemma 🔴
Ngumoha has experience at U19 level, but his 11 caps for the U17s at last summer’s European Championship make him a strong candidate for selection. If England calls and Liverpool give the green light, Slot will once again be forced into tactical reshuffles.
With Hugo Ekitike suspended recently, and new signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz still adjusting, losing another forward would stretch the squad further during a high-pressure month.
Even if Ngumoha stays, the speculation itself underlines just how quickly the youngster has risen through the ranks. Many inside the club believe it’s not a question of if he becomes a regular first-team player — but when.
