Liverpool could be open to parting ways with one of their promising young forwards this summer if a suitable offer lands on the table.
With the Reds actively exploring options to bolster their attacking lineup—such as holding talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike and inquiring about Newcastle’s Alexander Isak—there’s also growing speculation about potential outgoings at Anfield.
Among those potentially on the move is 19-year-old Ben Doak, who recently returned from a productive loan stint at Middlesbrough. The Scottish winger impressed during his time at the Riverside, contributing to 10 goals in 24 appearances and even making strides with the national team.
According to reports, several clubs are currently monitoring the young winger’s situation, with Nottingham Forest being the latest to express interest. It’s understood that Liverpool could be persuaded to accept an offer in the region of £25 million.
While Doak’s opportunities at Anfield have been limited—largely due to Mohamed Salah’s continued dominance on the right flank—his fearless performances have not gone unnoticed. His standout display in Scotland’s victory over Croatia last November drew widespread praise, particularly for the way he outshone elite defender Josko Gvardiol.
Liverpool have previously capitalized on high-value sales of academy talents who didn’t break through into the first team, such as Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho (both sold to Brentford) and Rhian Brewster (who joined Sheffield United).
Should manager Arne Slot decide the young Scot isn’t central to his long-term plans, the Merseyside club may view this summer as the ideal window to secure a significant return. A transfer to Nottingham Forest could also open the door for Europa League football, with the Midlands club potentially entering the tournament due to a reshuffle in European qualification following off-field complications involving Crystal Palace and Lyon.
While Doak may still feature in Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures, a permanent move away could ultimately provide the best platform for him to reach his full potential.
