Just half a year after celebrating a Premier League title triumph, the Dutch manager now finds himself under intense pressure, with Liverpool tumbling to 11th following a crushing 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest. While Gary Neville believes Slot’s job is safe, the real threat might come from within his own dugout.

Van Bronckhorst Draws International Attention

Football Insider claims that assistant coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst is being eyed for the vacant Indonesia national team job. The position opened up after Patrick Kluivert — another Dutchman — was dismissed when Indonesia failed to reach the 2026 World Cup.

Indonesia, which maintains strong footballing links to the Netherlands and relies heavily on Dutch-born naturalised players, is now exploring their options. Van Bronckhorst’s name has reportedly made the shortlist.

The former Rangers and Feyenoord boss only arrived at Liverpool in July, replacing Johnny Heitinga, who recently endured a disastrous spell as Ajax manager.

Not the Distraction Slot Needs

Slot has already experienced one coaching departure since taking over at Liverpool, and with results declining sharply, losing Van Bronckhorst now would add yet another complication to an already fragile situation.

The 50-year-old does have past experience in Asia from his time with Guangzhou R&F, making a move to Indonesia far from unrealistic — and potentially appealing. The national team has surged up the FIFA rankings by more than 50 places since 2021 and reached the fourth round of Asian World Cup qualifying, where they narrowly lost to giants like Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Whether Van Bronckhorst is ready to walk away from Anfield so soon remains uncertain. But for Slot, already battling form issues and mounting scrutiny, even the possibility of another shake-up in his staff comes at the worst possible moment.

Liverpool fans will hope loyalty wins out — because right now, Arne Slot needs every ally he can keep. 🚨
