Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is officially heading back into the football arena — but not in the way many expected.
Klopp, who ended his iconic run at Anfield after the 2023/24 campaign, had previously insisted he had no intention of returning to the dugout. Despite links to major clubs, including Barcelona, the German coach maintained he needed time away from the pressures of management.
After stepping out of club football, he later took up a non-coaching position as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull football group, marking his re-entry into the sport from behind the scenes.
But now, Klopp has revealed his next move — and it brings him right back to pitchside.
The 58-year-old shared a playful video on Instagram, teasing fans with hints of a “return to the sideline.” Moments later, he clarified the real story: he’s joining Magenta TV as a pundit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
In the clip, Klopp joked about the idea of managing again before revealing the truth:
he simply missed the buzz of the stadium — the grass, the atmosphere, the closeness to the action — but not the stress of coaching.
He closed his announcement with a message to German broadcaster Johannes B. Kerner, confirming his on-air debut on June 11 in Mexico, where the tournament kicks off.
With years of top-level experience from Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp is expected to bring sharp analysis and plenty of personality to World Cup coverage — especially when it comes to Germany’s campaign and England’s hopes of lifting the trophy.
