Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez has finally spoken out about the constant rumours swirling around his future — a topic that has kept Barcelona and Liverpool fans talking for months.
The Argentine star, who has been repeatedly mentioned in connection with a move to the Camp Nou and was briefly linked with Liverpool earlier in the summer, says he’s fully aware of the chatter online. Liverpool eventually strengthened their attack with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, leaving Alvarez’s name floating in the rumour mill with no concrete move.
Speaking to Marca, Alvarez explained that he tries to keep his head clear despite the noise:
> “It doesn’t get to me. I try to stay focused, but of course I see what people are saying — it’s everywhere online. Most of it is just talk. My mind is on this season with Atletico, improving every day and fighting for trophies.”
His agent, Fernando Hidalgo, echoed that message earlier in the year, making it clear that Liverpool never submitted any formal bid. According to him, Atletico had no intention of letting Alvarez go, which meant “there were no negotiations at all.”
Alvarez later doubled down on his stance during an interview with ESPN, insisting that transfer talk has become a normal part of his career:
> “People always talk. It happened last year too. My focus is helping the team and getting better — that’s it. Social media doesn’t change anything.”
The noise only grew louder after Alvarez delivered a standout performance in Atletico’s thrilling 3–2 win over PSV. Manager Diego Simeone praised him after the match, calling him a player capable of transforming a game on his own.
> “Players like Julian appear at the right moments. He worked, he pressed, he produced moments of brilliance — exactly what we need,” Simeone said.
With his form rising and clubs still watching closely, Alvarez’s future might continue to generate headlines. But for now, the Argentine insists he’s locked in on Atletico Madrid and nothing else.
