Liverpool have been dealt a fresh concern ahead of their Champions League showdown with Galatasaray, as highly-rated youngster Jayden Danns has been sidelined through injury.
The 19-year-old forward, who has been making steady progress into the senior picture, was forced off during Liverpool Under-21s’ Premier League 2 clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday. Wearing the captain’s armband, Danns lasted just over half an hour before limping off, with the young Reds eventually falling to a 3-2 defeat.
According to Liverpool ECHO, the academy striker will undergo further medical examinations to determine the seriousness of the issue. However, early indications confirm that he will not travel with the senior squad to Istanbul for their midweek Champions League fixture.
Danns has been edging closer to a breakthrough season, having been named on the bench during Liverpool’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid earlier this month in Europe. He also came off the bench in the League Cup win against Southampton at Anfield last week, further underlining his growing importance within Arne Slot’s plans.
