He argued that Salah rarely stops for interviews unless he intends to send a message, recalling a similar situation a year earlier which, in his view, stirred up supporter emotion with calls of “Give Mo his dough.” Carragher claimed the forward chose a moment when morale was low—after Liverpool conceded a late equaliser—to make comments that could be seen as undermining manager Arne Slot.
However, during CBS Sport’s Tuesday broadcast from the San Siro, Carragher shifted his tone. Sitting alongside Micah Richards, Thierry Henry, and presenter Kate Scott, the panel revisited Salah’s remarks. Richards then playfully pushed Carragher to address the elephant in the room, asking if he wanted to apologise directly to the Liverpool forward for any perceived disrespect.
The light-hearted moment gave Carragher the chance to soften his stance and publicly acknowledge the situation on live TV, completing a notable U-turn just 48 hours after his original criticism.
