Inter Milan eyeing loan for injured Liverpool teen Leoni
Inter Milan are considering a loan move for Liverpool youngster Giovanni Leoni as they brace for a major defensive overhaul this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri face multiple departures with Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian heading for the exit when contracts expire, while Stefan De Vrij’s future remains under evaluation. Alessandro Bastoni’s situation adds uncertainty amid continued interest from Barcelona.
Palacios already left in January, and while Manuel Akanji’s purchase option will be triggered, Benjamin Pavard awaits Marseille’s decision on his buy-out clause. Carlos Augusto is also pushing for more regular minutes.
Inter have identified several targets, including long-standing interest in Oumar Solet and exploration of Tarik Muharemovic, with Juventus also in the mix for the Sassuolo defender.
Leoni’s name has resurfaced as a potential low-risk loan option while the 19-year-old rebuilds from a serious cruciate ligament injury suffered in September 2025.
Leoni, who joined Liverpool from Parma in August 2025, made just one senior appearance (81 minutes in the EFL Cup) before the ACL tear that is expected to sideline him until around August 2026.
