Hugo Ekitike Sends Clear Message Ahead of Frankfurt Reunion

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike will be facing a familiar opponent in this season’s Champions League after the Reds were paired with Eintracht Frankfurt in the group stage draw.

The French forward, who only joined Liverpool earlier this summer, will now prepare for an emotional meeting with the club that helped revive his career and put him on the radar of Europe’s elite.

Frankfurt wasted no time reacting to the draw on social media. The Bundesliga side shared an image of Ekitike in their colours with the caption: “Heki is coming home.” The 23-year-old quickly replied with three words and a kiss emoji: “See you soon 💋.”

Flying Start at Anfield

Ekitike has already made a statement since arriving at Anfield, scoring three times in his first three outings. One of those strikes came in Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle, where his goal moments after the restart looked set to seal victory before the Magpies mounted a late comeback.

Despite his sharp beginning, Liverpool boss Arne Slot insists the striker still has plenty of room for development.

> “He’s had a real impact with his link-up play, goals and movement,” Slot told reporters. “But fitness is an area he can improve. We also demand more intensity without the ball than he’s been used to, and that takes time to adjust to in a new league and country.”

Champions League Journey Begins

Liverpool’s full fixture schedule will be confirmed this weekend, but anticipation is already building for the Frankfurt clash. For Ekitike, it’s more than just another group stage tie – it’s a reunion with the club that reignited his career, now on Europe’s biggest stage.

As the Reds aim to progress deep into the competition, all eyes will be on whether their new No.9 can continue his blistering start – and deliver when it matters most.
