Harvey Elliott has finally spoken out about why he left Liverpool — and he insists it wasn’t because of head coach Arne Slot’s tactics or coaching style.
In a recent interview, the 22-year-old midfielder dismissed suggestions that he couldn’t adapt to Slot’s system. Elliott explained that the real reason he chose to depart was down to his experiences inside the Liverpool dressing room — not the manager’s game plan.
According to him, the environment became increasingly uncomfortable due to the way one senior teammate treated him behind the scenes. Elliott described feeling isolated and undermined, saying that this ongoing tension affected his enjoyment of the game and his confidence. He claims that this conduct within the squad made staying at the club untenable.

Looking ahead, Harvey kept the door open to a potential Liverpool return — but with a dramatic condition: he believes that person would need to be moved on first. He made it clear that a healthy team culture is essential for him to consider wearing the red shirt again.
