Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool departure has been confirmed for the end of the season, and while the 33-year-old’s next destination remains unclear, Galatasaray have quietly maintained a long-standing interest in one of football’s greatest modern players.

According to journalist Ismael Mahmoud, the Turkish champions have been tracking Salah for two to three years.

“Mohamed Salah has been a major dream for Galatasaray for the past two or three years, but they are well aware of how difficult it would be to convince Mo to join the club,” Mahmoud wrote.

Liverpool confirmed on March 24 that Salah will leave at the end of the season despite his contract running until 2027, with both parties agreeing to part ways early amid reported tension with Arne Slot and a shift toward a younger squad.

Salah addressed supporters directly, saying: “Leaving is never easy… You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you.”

The Egyptian’s journey to Liverpool was anything but straightforward — limited minutes under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea in 2014 were followed by a career-defining spell in Italy with Fiorentina and Roma, which convinced Jurgen Klopp to bring him to Merseyside in 2017. What followed was one of the greatest individual runs in Premier League history.
