Florian Wirtz was once again among Liverpool’s standout performers during their Premier League trip to Craven Cottage, but even his impressive effort couldn’t help the Reds secure all three points in a dramatic 2–2 stalemate with Fulham.
The Cottagers drew first blood through ex-Liverpool youth product Harry Wilson, who fired them ahead inside the opening 20 minutes.
Liverpool struggled to find a rhythm initially, but Wirtz’s well-taken equaliser in the second half — following a probing run from full-back Conor Bradley — brought the visitors level.
As the game slipped deep into stoppage time, Cody Gakpo thought he had snatched victory for the Reds when he tapped in a late chance, sparking celebrations among the travelling supporters.
However, the drama wasn’t over. Moments later, Fulham’s Harrison Reed unleashed a stunning long-range strike in the 97th minute to snatch a share of the spoils, leaving both sets of fans stunned and the points divided.
The result means Liverpool remain unbeaten in their last eight league matches, but dropping points late in the contest will frustrate their push for a top-four finish.
