Real Madrid star Rodrygo is once again in the transfer spotlight, with his future potentially tied to Manchester City’s pursuit of Savinho. Reports suggest that the winger could be available this summer, although any move would be far from simple.
According to ESPN (via BBC Sport), City haven’t ruled out making a move for the Brazilian international. However, much depends on how talks for Savinho progress.

In his latest YouTube update, Fabrizio Romano made it clear that Manchester City remain very keen on Rodrygo, though the deal would be complex and costly:
> “City’s plan is straightforward – they want Rodrygo. But the deal isn’t easy. His transfer fee would exceed €100m, plus his wages are high. On top of that, he’s very happy at Madrid. This is the type of deal you don’t close in a day; it needs time and a lot of negotiation.”
Interestingly, Romano did not mention Liverpool in his breakdown, meaning the Reds are not directly involved in this particular discussion — at least not yet.
Could Liverpool Enter the Race? 🔴
Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit of Alexander Isak shows that funds are not the issue. An initial £110m bid for the Newcastle striker earlier this summer underlined the club’s financial muscle, while the recent £65.5m sale of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich has only strengthened their position.
This raises the question: should Arne Slot’s side shift their focus to Rodrygo if the Isak chase proves fruitless? At 24, the Brazilian brings Champions League experience and the ability to play across the frontline, qualities Liverpool desperately need.

One potential complication lies in the development of teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha. Liverpool are said to be committed to giving the 16-year-old a clear pathway into the senior squad. Bringing in a world-class option like Rodrygo — who prefers playing on the left — could limit opportunities for the youngster.
With Cody Gakpo currently the first-choice starter on the flank, adding Rodrygo would undoubtedly provide depth and versatility. But balancing star signings with youth development has always been a fine line for Liverpool.
