The Premier League returns this weekend with a blockbuster clash between Liverpool and Manchester United — and both sides are battling major injury concerns ahead of the Anfield encounter.

For Arne Slot, the pressure couldn’t be higher. Liverpool’s title defense has stumbled dramatically, with three straight defeats across all competitions against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea leaving fans anxious. Slot’s men desperately need a win to reignite their campaign — but injuries may complicate the plan.

On the other side, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United enter the contest with renewed confidence following a comfortable 2–0 victory over Sunderland. However, the Red Devils haven’t tasted success at Anfield since January 2016, a painful run that spans ten consecutive visits without a win.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Amorim provided mixed news on his squad’s condition. Noussair Mazraoui remains a doubt after missing games for both club and country due to an undisclosed issue, while Lisandro Martínez is confirmed to be sidelined as he continues recovery from an ACL injury. “Mazraoui is still uncertain. We’ll assess him again before the game,” Amorim revealed.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s injury situation also looks complicated. Alisson Becker has officially been ruled out, with Slot confirming the Brazilian goalkeeper is still in the late stages of rehab. “He’s not training yet,” Slot told reporters. “We’ll have to wait and see, but he won’t be available this weekend or next.”

The Reds could, however, receive a boost with Ibrahima Konaté and Ryan Gravenberch possibly returning. Slot explained:

> “Ryan is back to full fitness, though he still needs more sessions to reach his best level. Ibou trained with us today, so that’s encouraging.”

Both teams now enter Sunday’s clash with fitness clouds hanging over key players — setting up an unpredictable and high-stakes battle at Anfield.

Will Slot’s men bounce back from their recent slump, or will Amorim’s United finally break their Anfield curse? 🔥
