Rute Cardoso, the wife of the late Diogo Jota, made a poignant return to Anfield at the weekend — her first visit since her husband’s tragic passing in a car crash last summer. The occasion was Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Wolves, a fixture filled with heartfelt tributes to the forward, who had starred for both clubs.

After the match, Rute took to social media to express her gratitude. In an emotional message, she thanked Liverpool, Wolves, and supporters from both sides for their compassion and the warmth shown to her and her family during what she described as “an incredibly difficult time.” She added that the overwhelming support meant more than words could ever convey.

The former Liverpool star’s three children were also at the game. Two of his sons, Dinis and Duarte, were given the honour of serving as mascots before kick-off, leading both teams onto the pitch alongside Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk — a touching moment that brought many fans to tears.
