After helping Liverpool secure a historic league title under Arne Slot, Núñez completed a £46 million transfer to Al Hilal during the summer window. Since arriving in Riyadh, the 26-year-old forward has managed four goals and two assists in eight outings — a decent return, but not quite the explosive form many expected.Despite being under contract until 2028, rumours are already swirling that Núñez might be tempted back to England. And one voice in particular — former Chelsea and France defender Marcel Desailly — has publicly declared that Stamford Bridge would be the perfect destination.«“Núñez is young, full of energy, and still has so much potential,” Desailly told OLGB. “He just needs the right system and confidence to thrive. With Maresca’s style at Chelsea, he could truly shine. If things aren’t going well in Saudi, he’s exactly the kind of player who should come back.”»Chelsea have long struggled to find a consistent number nine, cycling through names like João Pedro, Liam Delap, and academy talents Marc Guiu and Tyrique George. For Desailly, Núñez represents both a solution and a second chance.Liverpool originally signed the striker from Benfica in 2022 for an initial £64 million, but after mixed performances — including an 11-goal Premier League campaign in 2023/24 — the club eventually sold him at a loss. His departure made way for new arrivals Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, as Slot reshaped his attacking options.Meanwhile, Núñez’s Al Hilal side currently sit third in the Saudi Pro League, just behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. But with speculation building and Chelsea reportedly keeping tabs, a sensational Premier League reunion might be on the horizon 👀⚽.Featured image: Getty Images
