Reflecting on Wirtz’s performance, the Liverpool head coach pointed to his composure and technical quality on the ball as key positives. Slot also stressed how noticeable the player’s physical and overall development has been in recent weeks.
“He’s very secure when he’s in possession and extremely comfortable on the ball,” Slot explained. “He’s one of those players you can clearly see improving with every game. He’s becoming stronger, more confident, and all the effort the squad has put in over the last few months is starting to show.”
Slot added that the busy run of fixtures has limited recovery time, but welcomed the opportunity for rest and focused training following the Brighton match.
“After playing so many games, this week gives us a chance to recover a bit and spend more time on the training ground,” he said.
Although Wirtz is yet to register a goal or an assist in the 2025/26 Premier League season, his displays have steadily improved. The signs suggest it may only be a matter of time before his performances are matched by tangible end product.
