Liverpool manager Arne Slot avoided several direct questions about Mohamed Salah’s situation following the Reds’ narrow Champions League victory over Inter Milan — a moment that has now deepened uncertainty surrounding the Egyptian’s future.
Salah Situation Boils Over
Salah was left out entirely from the squad that travelled to Italy, just days after publicly expressing frustration and saying he felt “thrown under the bus”. The 33-year-old also admitted he currently has “no relationship” with Slot, adding more fuel to the speculation around his role at Anfield.
The forward reportedly told his family to attend the upcoming clash against Brighton, even though he wasn’t sure he would be involved.
Slot’s post-match comments did little to clear the air.

Slot Keeps His Cards Close in Milan
During his Amazon Prime Sport interview, presenter Gabby Logan and Dutch icon Clarence Seedorf pressed Slot for clarity on whether he planned to speak with Salah before the next league fixture. Slot declined each time.
When asked whether the Inter win brought relief amid the off-field drama, Slot responded:
> “If you mean the 3–3 against Leeds and the draw with Sunderland, then yes — that felt like a relief. But that’s different from what you’re describing.”
He acknowledged that both recent matches and the ongoing Salah tension have been emotionally taxing for the dressing room.
Regarding how Salah’s comments impacted the squad, Slot said:
> “When a player as influential as he is becomes involved in something like this, it affects everyone.”
Seedorf suggested both sides might need to admit mistakes, to which Slot simply replied that such questions are “not for him to answer.”

Jamie Carragher, on CBS Sports duty, highlighted how Liverpool supporters chanted the manager’s name at 0–0 — a clear sign of who the fanbase currently stands with.
Carragher noted:
