Arne Slot Admits Liverpool’s Opponents Have “Figured Them Out” Amid Recent Struggles
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has offered a candid explanation for his team’s shaky form, admitting that rival clubs may have cracked the code on how to play against his side.
The Dutch manager, who guided the Reds to a Premier League crown and a Carabao Cup final appearance in his debut season, has generally impressed since taking over from Jurgen Klopp. However, back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray have raised concerns about the club’s current momentum.
Slot explained in a press conference that when he first arrived at Anfield, opponents underestimated Liverpool under new leadership. But as last season progressed — especially once the Reds were flying high at the top of the table and in Europe — he noticed a clear shift in how teams approached matches against them.
“I don’t think we’ve changed much in our style,” Slot said via Liverpool’s official site. “What I do see is that opponents are playing differently against us. At the start, perhaps we weren’t taken as seriously, but when we started winning consistently, they adjusted their approach.”
The manager admitted that Liverpool have yet to find the right solutions to break down these new tactical challenges, particularly when facing low blocks. Last season, set-pieces often provided a breakthrough, but this campaign, those weapons have not been as effective.
Despite a strong foundation to the season, the Reds’ defensive lapses and overreliance on late goals suggest that Slot’s side faces a critical test. The big question now: can Liverpool adapt quickly enough to stay in the title race, or have opponents already worked them out?
