Alexander Isak’s situation at Newcastle United has taken yet another twist. The 25-year-old striker, fresh off being named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season, is currently training away from the first team and has openly admitted that his relationship with the Magpies is at breaking point.
Earlier this week, Isak skipped the PFA awards ceremony and instead released a strongly worded statement. In it, he thanked his teammates and fans but stressed that promises made to him had been broken — making it impossible for him to see a future at St James’ Park.

Despite making his feelings public, Isak has not formally submitted a transfer request. According to reports, the reason is financial. Handing in a request would mean losing out on contractual benefits such as loyalty bonuses and signing-on fees. Considering his current £120,000-per-week wage before bonuses, it’s a big financial gamble the Swedish forward isn’t willing to take.

Newcastle didn’t stay silent. The club quickly released a statement insisting that no promises were broken on their part and that Isak remains under contract. They reiterated that they want to keep their star players but will only consider a sale if the right conditions are met — something they say hasn’t happened this summer.
