Alan Shearer Selects Combined Liverpool–Man City XI Ahead of Anfield Showdown

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has shared his combined Liverpool and Manchester City starting XI ahead of this weekend’s highly anticipated Premier League clash at Anfield.
Despite City’s strong league position, Shearer limited Pep Guardiola’s representation to just three players. Erling Haaland leads the line, joined by Bernardo Silva in midfield and recent City arrival Marc Guehi at the back.
Liverpool dominate the selection, with Shearer backing Mohamed Salah to feature in attack even after what has been a quieter-than-usual campaign for the Egyptian forward. At left-back, Andy Robertson was preferred ahead of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
In goal, Alisson Becker gets the nod, while Virgil van Dijk anchors the defence. Jeremie Frimpong was selected at right-back, adding pace and attacking threat from deep. The midfield trio is completed by Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch alongside Silva.
The Reds currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings, while Manchester City occupy second place, trailing leaders Arsenal by six points as the title race intensifies.
