Talk of Liverpool moving for a high-profile replacement for Arne Slot has been firmly dismissed as pure speculation.

The Reds boss is currently navigating his first extended rough patch at Anfield, having lost eight of his last 11 matches across all competitions, leaving Liverpool languishing in 12th place after a third of the Premier League season. Despite this slump, trusted voices like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have insisted Slot remains the right man for the job, and Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the club hierarchy continue to back the Dutch coach fully. ⚡

Claims about Nagelsmann dismissed
Over the past day, reports from Germany suggested Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes had allegedly reached out to Volker Struth, agent of Julian Nagelsmann, regarding a potential switch.

However, Dominic King, Merseyside football correspondent for Mail Sport, took to X on Tuesday to crush those rumours:

> “Talk about Julian Nagelsmann being a contender to replace Slot: nonsense. He wasn’t even a candidate to replace Klopp, and Liverpool aren’t looking to change their head coach.”

Slot still has the club’s full support
Reliable sources confirm that Slot retains the trust of Liverpool’s hierarchy. The club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have previously shown patience with managers enduring tough spells — notably with Jurgen Klopp, whose early struggles eventually led to a trophy-laden era.

While Nagelsmann could attract attention once his contract with Germany ends after the next World Cup, there’s currently no plan to bring him to Anfield. Any chatter about potential successors is premature, as Slot’s contract runs until June 2027 — with the possibility of extension if he regains last season’s form.

The Dutchman will be eager to halt the slide, starting with tomorrow night’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven. For now, Liverpool remain fully behind their manager, with no intention of making a change any time soon. 💪🔴
