Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has suggested that Arne Slot’s future at Liverpool is hanging by a thread, with frustration growing rapidly among supporters.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown claimed the situation around Slot is becoming increasingly difficult to defend, especially as sections of the fanbase begin to lose patience. While the manager is under fire, Brown also hinted that players must share some of the blame, particularly at the back.

Liverpool’s defensive leaders, including captain Virgil van Dijk and centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, have both been guilty of costly errors this season. Those mistakes, according to Brown, have stripped the team of the defensive solidity that once defined their success.

“Arne Slot is under serious pressure at Liverpool,” Brown explained.

“They spent big money in the summer, and when results don’t follow, attention immediately turns to the manager.”

Although Slot still has goodwill left over from last season, Brown believes that goodwill is rapidly fading.

“Five wins in 18 league matches is nowhere near the standard expected at Liverpool,” he added.

“That kind of run would put any Liverpool manager in danger.”

“The centre-backs, including Van Dijk, simply haven’t been good enough,” he said.

According to Brown, Liverpool’s inability to build from a solid defensive base has directly increased pressure on Slot.

“If things continue like this, the manager will pay the price,” he warned.
