Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has reportedly turned down advances from both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, making it clear that his preferred destination is Liverpool.
According to reports, the 24-year-old centre-back—widely considered one of the most talented young defenders in the Premier League—is edging closer to the Selhurst Park exit door as he enters the final year of his contract.
Both Spurs and Newcastle recently tabled offers in a bid to reinforce their backline before the transfer window closes. While Ange Postecoglou already boasts Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, he still pushed for Guehi’s signing. Newcastle, meanwhile, have held long-term interest in the England international, having failed in previous attempts to bring him to St James’ Park.

Liverpool’s defensive rebuild makes him an attractive option, with Virgil van Dijk in the twilight of his career and injuries continuing to affect other centre-halves. Guehi is viewed as an ideal long-term replacement and an immediate reinforcement for Arne Slot’s side.
So far, however, Liverpool have yet to lodge an official bid. The Reds are treading carefully with their summer budget, weighing up priorities across the squad. Even so, Guehi’s willingness to hold out suggests he is prepared to wait until Liverpool make their move rather than commit elsewhere.
Palace, on the other hand, face a tough decision. While they would prefer to keep their defensive rock, his contract situation could force them to listen to offers rather than risk losing him for free next summer.
Former England boss Gareth Southgate has previously described Guehi as an “exceptional” talent—praise that underlines just how big a coup this would be for Liverpool if a deal materialises.
