The summer transfer window is heading into its final stretch, and three of England’s biggest clubs are set to collide in the market over one highly-rated Premier League star.
With the deadline of September 1 fast approaching, the scramble for reinforcements has reached boiling point. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all circling the same target – Brentford’s skipper Nathan Collins.
For Liverpool, Collins has emerged as a serious option as the club looks to bolster its defensive depth amid uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konaté’s future. The Reds have already landed Giovanni Leoni from Parma for around £26m and remain linked with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, but Collins’ leadership and Premier League experience make him an attractive proposition.
At Old Trafford, United’s defensive rebuild continues after missing out on Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, despite tabling a huge offer. Any fresh move for Collins, however, may hinge on potential departures, with names like Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho still linked with exits.
Spurs are also firmly in the race, with new boss Thomas Frank pushing hard to reunite with the player he previously coached at Brentford. Collins is thought to be his priority signing as he looks to reshape the North London club’s backline.
But there’s a major twist. Having already parted ways with captain Christian Nørgaard, Bryan Mbeumo, and likely Yoane Wissa before the window closes, Brentford are reluctant to lose another cornerstone of their squad. As things stand, the Bees are expected to stand firm and resist all approaches for their new captain.
