Liverpool’s summer overhaul looks set to continue, with reports suggesting the club is open to parting ways with long-serving left-back Kostas Tsimikas before the transfer window slams shut.
Tsimikas, who has been a dependable deputy for Andy Robertson since joining the Reds, now faces an uncertain future following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that the Greek international is no longer considered indispensable at Anfield:
> “Tsimikas has done a good job for Liverpool over the years, always stepping up when called upon. But with Kerkez and Robertson available, his role in the squad has diminished.”
With Liverpool’s left-back options already well-covered, keeping the 28-year-old would limit his game time — something he can’t afford at this stage of his career. Tsimikas is believed to be keen on a move that guarantees regular first-team football, with the Reds expected to cash in and reinvest in other positions.
Despite his likely departure, few can doubt his impact during his time at the club. The defender has proven himself in the Premier League and will attract interest from clubs aiming to compete at the highest level.
Liverpool’s transfer business isn’t over yet either. The club is tipped to bring in at least two more defenders before the deadline, using funds from player sales to balance the books.
