Liverpool are making a serious late move to secure Marc Guehi before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Respected journalist Paul Joyce revealed earlier this week that talks have already begun with Crystal Palace over the 25-year-old defender. Reports suggest that sporting director Richard Hughes is pushing ahead with a package worth £30m up front plus £5m in add-ons.
At the same time, the Reds are also keeping an eye on Parma’s rising star Giovanni Leoni as part of their bid to reinforce a defence that currently looks a little thin in numbers.

Football reporter Lewis Steele claims Guehi wouldn’t be signing for Liverpool just to be a backup to Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.
“If Marc Guehi joins Liverpool, he won’t see himself as a third-choice centre-back,” Steele hinted on social media. “His mentality and ability make him believe he can fight for a place in the best XI. Considering the ‘England international tax’, £35m would be a bargain.”

As Crystal Palace captain and an England international with 23 caps, Guehi has every reason to believe he can claim a regular starting spot.

However, his pass completion (83.5%) and aerial duel success (54%) still trail behind Liverpool’s current starters, showing there’s room for improvement.
