Liverpool’s high-profile summer overhaul looks set to continue, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Reds have agreed to sell Darwin Núñez to Al-Hilal in a deal worth over £46 million.

The Saudi club has finalised terms with Liverpool on a transfer package starting at €53m, with additional clauses likely to push the overall fee even higher. Personal terms with Núñez are still being discussed, but the striker’s move is now viewed as only awaiting his approval before completion.

Romano shared the update on X, stating:

> “Club-to-club agreement between Liverpool and Al-Hilal is 100% done. Initial fee €53m plus significant add-ons. Talks ongoing with Darwin to finalise personal terms.”



Al-Hilal head coach Simone Inzaghi is reportedly eager to secure the 26-year-old’s signature, with the player now expected to decide his future imminently.

From Benfica Star to Anfield Exit

Núñez arrived at Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 with huge expectations but endured an inconsistent spell at Anfield. Last season, he managed just seven goals across 47 matches and started only eight times in the Premier League under Arne Slot.

His departure comes during a busy summer of activity for Liverpool, who have spent close to £255m on new additions including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez. The Reds are also rumoured to be looking at Paris Saint-Germain forward Gonçalo Ramos as a possible replacement before the transfer window closes.

With Núñez under contract until 2028, Liverpool are set to recoup most of their investment from his £64m signing fee three years ago, marking the end of a short but eventful chapter for the Uruguayan on Merseyside.
