🔴 Liverpool Gear Up for Anfield Double-Header vs. Bilbao – But Two Injury Concerns Loom Large ⚽

Liverpool return to Anfield today for a highly anticipated pre-season double clash against Spanish side Athletic Bilbao — but not everyone may feature.

After wrapping up their tour of the Far East — which included a win over Yokohama F. Marinos and a loss to AC Milan — Arne Slot’s squad are back on Merseyside as they sharpen up for the upcoming Premier League season. Today’s double-header will see the Reds play two separate fixtures at 5pm and 8pm, and Slot is expected to name two different starting elevens.

📆 The Premier League opener against Bournemouth is just around the corner on August 15, but before that, the team still has three friendlies to complete — and tonight’s double-header is a key part of that buildup.

🚑 Injury Worries Before Kickoff

Despite being in pre-season mode, Liverpool have already run into some early injury setbacks. Joe Gomez is one of the players in doubt. The defender, who featured in the Asia tour, returned with an Achilles issue and is currently being assessed by the club’s medical team. Whether he’ll recover in time to play a part in either match remains uncertain.

Federico Chiesa is another potential absentee. The Italian winger didn’t travel with the squad to Asia, sparking speculation about his future at the club. Liverpool sources described his absence as precautionary, due to a “minor issue.” However, his availability for tonight’s fixtures is still unclear.

With the Premier League curtain-raiser fast approaching, Liverpool fans will be hoping both players can return to full fitness soon — but for now, the Anfield faithful will have to wait and see.
