Liverpool might not be done just yet when it comes to strengthening their attacking line — and one familiar name could still be on the cards.
Despite recently announcing the £79 million signing of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, trusted journalist Paul Joyce suggests that the Reds are still keeping tabs on Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker, who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season, has been on Liverpool’s radar for quite some time. While Newcastle maintains he’s not for sale, Liverpool’s continued interest hints that the door hasn’t fully closed — particularly amid some contract tension at St. James’ Park.

Ekitike, known for his versatility, is seen as someone who can play across the front line — whether as a central striker, on the wings, or in a supporting role. Paul Joyce even points out the similarities between Ekitike and Isak, though he admits Isak has already proven himself at a higher level.
Still, Liverpool’s confidence in Ekitike is high. He’s expected to fit seamlessly into Arne Slot’s dynamic system — linking play, pulling defenders out of position, and working well in tight spaces.
