Alexander Isak Transfer Takes New Twist as Surprise Club Enters Race — Striker Reveals Preferred Destination

The ongoing transfer saga surrounding Newcastle United’s star striker Alexander Isak has taken another dramatic turn.

Despite guiding Newcastle to Champions League qualification, the Swedish forward has reportedly informed the club of his desire to consider new opportunities during this summer window.

A surprise contender has now emerged to challenge Liverpool’s long-standing interest in the 25-year-old. Chelsea, known for making bold transfer moves, are said to be monitoring the situation closely and could launch a bid — though such a move would mark a shift from their current recruitment profile, as noted by The Independent.

Liverpool, who have already signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million, remain in the hunt for Isak, whom they’ve admired for several seasons. However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the player’s preferred move is to Anfield.

Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have also made contact with Newcastle about a potential deal, though a transfer to the Middle East is believed to be challenging. Still, the option reportedly hasn’t been ruled out completely by Isak’s camp.

Isak’s impressive record — 23 goals in 34 league appearances last season, following a 21-goal haul the previous year — has made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe.

Chelsea have already secured the signings of Liam Delap from Ipswich and Joao Pedro from Brighton, but their interest in Isak signals they may not be finished strengthening their attack.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe remains hopeful of keeping the striker, telling BBC Radio Newcastle after a recent pre-season defeat to Celtic:

> “We love Alex as a player and as a person. He’s been a game-changer since joining us, and everyone at the club wants him to stay.”

Still, Howe acknowledged the uncertainty, adding:

> “It would be naive to make any guarantees. He’s a special talent and we all hope he’ll continue his journey here.”

As the transfer window heats up, the question remains — will Isak wear red, blue, or take his talents abroad?
