Liverpool Change Transfer Direction After Ekitike Agreement – Isak Future in Doubt, Newcastle on Alert 👀

Liverpool appear to have altered their summer transfer plans following an agreement to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, which could see their pursuit of Alexander Isak come to a halt.
Sources indicate that the Merseyside giants have secured a deal worth around £69 million, with potential add-ons pushing the total close to £78 million, to bring Ekitike to Anfield.
🔁 Isak No Longer a Priority? Just a week ago, Liverpool had reportedly made contact regarding Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, sparking speculation about a major summer swoop. However, with Ekitike now on his way, insiders believe the Reds may find it difficult—both financially and tactically—to chase the Sweden international as well.
While Newcastle United have consistently maintained that Isak is not for sale, rumours surrounding his future refuse to die down.
💢 Unrest at St. James’ Park It’s now believed that the 25-year-old forward is feeling “unsettled” amid the growing interest from Liverpool. Notably, manager Eddie Howe excluded Isak from the squad in their pre-season clash with Celtic—a move that has only intensified the chatter.
Newcastle, wary of losing their prized asset, are pushing to extend Isak’s current contract—even though he still has three years left on his existing deal. But with Liverpool circling, the Magpies are understandably concerned that another bid could arrive later in the window… or perhaps in 2026.

🔁 Real Madrid Eye Bargain Move for Konaté
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for Ibrahima Konaté, who could become available for as little as £25 million, according to sources. The French centre-back, admired by manager Xabi Alonso, is entering the final year of his contract.
Liverpool, however, are expected to demand a higher fee—believed to be around £40 million—and are not keen on parting ways with Konaté this summer.
That said, Madrid may play the long game, just as they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold, waiting until 2026 to potentially sign the defender on a free transfer if contract talks with Liverpool fail to progress.

🟡 Norwich Closing In on Schlupp Deal
In other news, Jeffrey Schlupp is on the verge of joining Norwich City after leaving Crystal Palace as a free agent. The 32-year-old spent the latter part of last season on loan at Celtic, helping the club retain the Scottish Premiership title.
Despite interest from West Brom, it’s the Canaries who are now in advanced talks with the experienced midfielder. New manager Liam Manning is aiming to rebuild his squad, and Schlupp’s versatility and Championship experience could prove invaluable.
